How Topjib tracks boats, prices and Lake Travis locations

A useful boat record says what was observed, where the information came from and what remains unknown. These definitions explain the records and reports you see on Topjib.

Listings and registry records describe different things

Our sale catalog combines retained marketplace observations and reviewed seller submissions. The Travis County registry comes from TPWD's public vessel data. A registry entry is not a current sale offer, proof of present ownership or a confirmed Lake Travis berth. Registry records are excluded from asking-price statistics.

A location statement is stronger than a nearby town

The Lake Travis collection separates seller-reported current lake locations from ads in nearby communities. Naming a supported marina in a current-location statement can establish a source-reported lake relationship. A town, mailing address, recommendation or optional future slip does not establish a boat's berth. Map positions based on towns remain approximate.

One supported hull identity, one canonical boat page

A stated HIN or Texas registration can connect records when the identifier is unambiguous and other recorded identifiers do not conflict. Matched listings retain the earlier public listing URL; eligible registry aliases redirect there. Other supported registry vessels keep a stable record page. Conflicting identifiers are held for review rather than merged by a similar title, seller name or photograph. A matched identifier does not grant an ownership or management claim.

A permanent boat, a separate offer, a reviewed claim

Each retained boat has a permanent Topjib record ID. Its canonical page and history stay with the boat through sales, withdrawn offers and reviewed changes in management. A sale offer records its own asking price, availability and dates. An owner association is separate from permission to manage offers.

After independent review explicitly grants offer control, an authorized owner or representative can activate or withdraw an offer. New listings and lasting boat-detail corrections still require review. A claimed boat can receive reviewed details and photos without being advertised for sale. Registry and business-directory matches never grant these permissions.

What the dates mean

A first-observed import date records when Topjib received the listing, not necessarily when the seller first advertised it. A source observation, a reviewed listing update and a seller's availability confirmation are different events. Reports show their observation date; a recent import is not proof that every seller reconfirmed availability.

For sale, pending, sold, off market and unavailable

For sale reflects an active recorded offer. Pending stays separate. Sold means a seller-reported sold mark; any accompanying amount is the last asking price unless a separate documented transaction source is explicitly identified. Unavailable after a previously active listing begins an Off Market period.

After 90 uninterrupted Austin calendar days off market, a boat moves to the unavailable boat database. Rechecks do not restart that period. Its URL, search access and history remain. A renewed active period starts a new availability history; age alone never converts a Sold or Pending record into another status.

Asking prices, sample sizes and comparisons

The market report uses positive recorded asking prices and distinct public hull pages. A median is the middle ask, not a closing price or an estimate of the whole lake. Small groups and different boat types should not be interpreted as a market-wide trend. A recorded reduction compares dated asks for the same boat.

The value check needs enough eligible similar boats and excludes the subject from its own comparisons. Factory details, unknown specifications and closing prices are not invented to fill a gap. This is a comparison aid, not an appraisal.

Photos and information corrections

Actual boat photos take priority. Separate manufacturer references and generic type illustrations are identified as references when an original is unavailable; they do not prove the boat's condition. Enlarging a photo does not create new original detail or evidence of an identifier. Source seller identity and registry owner associations remain separate.

Use the issue or claim controls on a boat page, or contact Topjib with its URL and the correction. Claims require review and do not change a government record. Private seller email/mobile details and identity documents do not belong in public listing text or photos.
